Massacres in Sudan: The Real Reason why bloodshed has continued in Darfur.
Source: NNI

KHARTOUM (NNI) Sudan Darfur City of Al-Fashir has been taken over by the fast-growing Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. After the takeover, gruesome videos of mass killings of civilians have overwhelmed any social media, showing the extent of atrocities that were committed in the area.
Local sources also tell us that over 500 individuals were killed in one attack on a hospital and the city is still plagued by starvation, siege and airstrike. Al-Fashir is the former stronghold of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in Darfur, and it was captured, which has practically established the supremacy of the RSF in the area.
According to the reports provided by the international organizations, over 1.5 million people have been killed since the start of the war in 2023, and millions of people are in urgent need of humanitarian help. The observers have likened the crisis to the Rwandan genocide, on the basis of the magnitude of the violence and the human displacement.
Thousands in the middle of Massacres in Sudan.
Since the total fall of Al-Fashir under the control of the RSF, only several thousand civilians have been able to find shelter in the shelters that are nearby, and thousands more are trapped and in danger. It is reported that there are 460 corpses of civilians that are lying in the hospitals of the city.
According to a humanitarian group, survivors have been telling gruesome tales of murders and rape, which creates a terrible situation of what life is like when occupied by the RSF.
Week prior, following the RSF capturing the control of western Darfur, a conflict broke out between the RSF and the Sudanese army, which destroyed the lives of civilians in the area. Analysts believe that the collapse of Al-Fashir is a milestone in the Sudanese civil war, which started in April 2023 between the RSF and the national army.
The Deepening of Humanitarian Crisis.
The United Nations estimates that more than 40,000 individuals have already been killed in the conflict but aid groups assert it is at least a few times higher. Over 14 million individuals have been displaced by the war and diseases and famine are still taking away thousands of lives.
The UN Migration Agency disclosed that more than 8,000 individuals were uprooted off Al-fashir in one day, although 6,000 of them could access safe shelters.
Shashwat Saraf, the Regional Director of the Norwegian Refugee Council, informed an American news organization that about 1,000 individuals had reached the Toulila camp during the last three days, which is less than a quarter of what he anticipated.
Thousands we had expected, but naught is there in sight, said Saraf. People cannot survive it in Al-Fashir in a situation when they remain isolated there.
Survivors reported that they had to walk miles on foot to avoid gunshots and evade fighters to escape. Those who survived to the camp are in a pathetic condition several being dehydrated, traumatized, and injured. There are others who are so confused that they fail to recall their names or names of their relatives.
Some of the saddest stories are of the 170 unaccompanied children some as young as three years old who came to the camp without any idea of where their parents had gone.
Government of Sudan denounces RSF, Demands International Intervention.
Sudanese ambassador, Imad al-Din Mustafa Adawi, described the atrocities in Al-Fashir as war crimes saying that the government will never negotiate with the RSF. He requested the international community to declare the RSF a terror group.
The United Arab Emirates of the United Arab Emirates denied these allegations, claiming that Adawi had accused it of supplying the militia with weapons.
UAE diplomatic advisor, Anwar Gargash, on his part, said that they supported the idea of a three-month ceasefire and again pursued the idea of mediation, but he did not actually comment on the fact that the UAE allegedly supported the RSF.
Fears of Further Expansion
The RSF could soon intensify the war by moving to the central parts of Sudan and this may bring the country to even greater heights as the analysts have cautioned that the RSF has the full control of Darfur.
With Sudan spiraling even more into anarchy, the humanitarian organizations are worried that the nation is progressing towards the possibility of one of the greatest genocides of the 21 st century, unless something drastic is done by international organizations.
