Through the Afghanistan war on India, Director-General DG ISPR Lieutenant general Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has indicated that India is utilizing Afghanistan as a platform to conduct terror attacks within Pakistan. In one of his speeches at a press conference at the Corps Headquarters, Peshawar, he outlined the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and how the Pakistan Army was fighting against terrorism and protecting the country.
Pakistan Resolve Against Terrorism. DG ISPR
The DG ISPR remembered that the 2014 tragic Army Public School (APS) attack served as a tipping point in the war against terrorism in Pakistan. The attack was followed by concerted efforts by the government and military to eliminate militancy and restore peace especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The state concluded that enough was enough after the tragedy of the APS in 2014. Collectively, we embarked on eradicating the threat of terrorism in the Pakistani soil, said DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry.
He pointed out that the military and intelligence services of Pakistan since then have conducted thousands of successful operations that have minimized the impact of the terrorist groups in the region.
The Terrorists were provided space under a well thought out plot.
At the briefing, DG ISPR Chaudhry disclosed that there are some factors that had intentionally enabled the resurgence of terrorists and their backers in KP within a masterfully designed scheme.
According to him, such a move contributed to destabilization of locations that have been cleared of militants, weakening of the institutions of the people, and distortion of governance.
The military spokesperson went on to say that the governance system and welfare were purposely weakened to give room to the terrorist networks.
The comments are also against the backdrop of increased fears of the re-emergence of terrorism in border regions especially following the shift of regional dynamics after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in 2021.
More than 1000intelligence-based operations in 2025.
Focusing on the resilient counter-terrorism efforts that have been initiated by Pakistan, the DG ISPR added that over 1,000 intelligence-driven actions (IBOs) took place within the nation in the year 2025 alone.
In the operations, 917 terrorists have been eliminated.
516 The Pakistanis had 516 martyrs, 132 civilians and 311 Pakistan Army men.
He complimented the bravery and sacrifice of the armed forces, the intelligence and the police members who still ensure Pakistan remains safe against external and internal dangers.
According to Lt Gen Chaudhry, the national will is manifested by the rapid and firm action of the Pakistan Army and our law enforcement agencies.
The Indian contribution to the cross border terrorism.
DG ISPR implicated India in the terrorist attacks within Pakistan by accusing it of using the Afghan soil as their platform in one of the most critical moments of the press conference.
According to him, the intelligence reports of Pakistan indicate that the Indian intelligence agencies are issuing financial, technical and logistical assistance to terrorists who operate out of Afghanistan. These networks, he claimed are meant to destabilize Pakistan and disrupt peace in the region.
According to India, it is using the land of Afghanistan to plot and carry out terror attacks against Pakistan. The DG ISPR said that this aggressive operation weakens peace in the area.
The assertion is consistent with the position taken by Pakistan over the years at the international conferences where Islamabad has always accused the Indian government of suspected proxy involvement in sponsoring terrorism activities in the western border.
Repatriation of Afghan Refugees: A Necessary Manner of Things.
In response to the Afghan refugee problem, DG ISPR explained that in the past decades, Pakistan has welcomed millions of Afghan citizens because of its goodwill and humanitarian interest. Nonetheless, new trends require the sending back of illegal immigrants who can be security threats.
He said that, Pakistan has never been against our brothers in Afghanistan, but this time the state has resolved to repatriate undocumented refugees.
The DG ISPR observed that the repatriation process is being politicized by political quarters to give rise to artificial controversy and making such a process a political one rather than an administrative and security requirement.
False News and Social Media Propaganda.
The military spokesperson also attacked the propaganda campaigns that are still going on to destroy the sacrifice made by the security forces of Pakistan. According to him, artificial stories are being marketed on social media in an attempt to dismiss anti-terror efforts and mock martyrs of Pakistan Army and police.
DG ISPR warned that a fake and fabricated narrative is being created to reduce the level of trust that people have on our armed forces.
This political crime nexus is attempting to exploit the national sentiment to its advantage.
He encouraged the citizens to be wary of fake news and use credible sources of information to get verifiable updates on national security issues.
The National Unity and Security challenges in Pakistan.
The DG ISPR noted that regardless of the many challenges, the armed forces in Pakistan are resolute in ensuring that the borders of the country are sealed and terrorism in any form are overcome.
He emphasized on the need to have unity among the people, government and security institutions in order to prevent external and internal threats.
Pakistan has in the recent years been able to dismantle some of the largest terrorist networks.
- Such operations as Radd-ul-Fasaad and Zarb-e-Azb were able to lower the level of militant activity.
- Intrusions across borders are being proactively tracked and stopped.
DG ISPR Chaudhry said that our soldiers are dedicated to the defense of every inch of our homeland.
Multilateral Supporters of Regional Peace.
Replied to the questions of journalists, DG ISPR requested more cooperation in the region to attain long-term stability in South Asia. In response, he said that Pakistan holds the view of peaceful coexistence, and has always been dedicated to cooperating with the neighboring nations in attaining security, trade and development.
He also stated that the destabilizing aspect of India in the region should be noticed by the international partners and they should help Pakistan, in countering the cross border terrorism.
Peace in the region is also related. As long as it does not deal with outside interference, sustainable stability will be beyond reach, he said.
The Way Forward
At the end of the press conference, DG ISPR restated that the armed forces of Pakistan will go on with its operation of eradicating terrorism, improving Border control and making sure that the people of Pakistan will be safe.
He was optimistic that Pakistan will emerge out of all its security challenges with the aid of the population and national unity.
DG ISPR Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said, we will not enable anybody to take our soil – or the soil of a different country- against Pakistan.
We are making sacrifices to achieve peace and our dedication is to ensure prosperity of the generations to come.
