3I ATLAS Comet 2025: UN Launches Global Planetary-Defense Exercise Against Interstellar Threat
The astronomers around the world are witnessing a rare guest to the solar system; an interstellar comet named 3I ATLAS comet 2025, which was spotted at the beginning of November. In order to exercise global readiness in the event of an asteroid or comet collision, the United Nations and the international asteroid warning network (IAWN) have organized a coordinated planetary – defenses exercise, the first ever to be focused on a real interstellar object.

The practice will make sure that various countries are able to organize responses effectively, which will reduce any confusion during real emergencies.

Over 30 countries are involved in scientific work, and real-time protocols of communication are developed to share the data, alerts, and make decisions.
